2011-12 Graduate Bulletin & Course Catalog

Non-Degree Coursework

Degree- or certificate-seeking students wishing to count a course taken earlier as non-degree: A degree- or certificate-seeking student may, with permission of the program director, request approval from the Graduate School to include up to 9 hours of graduate coursework taken prior to the term of admission into the degree or certificate program at Appalachian. These requests are not automatic and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. These hours are subject to the seven (7) year time limit requirement at graduation.

Non-degree students wishing to take a graduate course: After admission as graduate non-degree, students must obtain permission from the instructor and either the department chair or graduate program director to enroll in a graduate course. This permission is not automatic, and several programs do not allow non-degree students to enroll in their courses. The form for this purpose is available from the Graduate School (http://www.graduate.appstate.edu/forms_graduate/).
