Program Highlights
- Instructional Technology / Computers: The Instructional Technology programis an innovative, award-winning graduate degree program.Most important is our reliance upon the college's social constructivist conceptual framework to guide all teaching, research, and service activities. The majority of the students in this program are part-time, distance-based practicing education professionals who learn together in regional cohorts. All of the content -- and nearly interactions with faculty and students -- is housed in an innovative online learning environment, called AET Zone. There are two tracks within this program:
- Instructional Technology/Computers: designed for K-12 educators and administrators who want to combine studies in both instructional applications and computer technologies;
- Instructional Technology/Computers, General: designed for those interested in teaching at a community college or working in corporate training settings.
- New Media and Global Education: The program of study engages the learner in constructivist learning environments and global learning communities. Emphasis is placed upon cultural diversity and the analysis of new media environments from a global perspective. Particular emphasis is placed upon the analysis of new media in light of educational, cultural and social forces within a digital global network. The program of study is international in scope, drawing upon scholars and students from Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, and the United States. The language for the program is English. The New Media and global Education program concentrates on the structure, organization, and development of learning environments as an effect of the new networked digital media. Students in the online program will develop the foundation skills to digital media production, instructional design, evaluation, and course and program development for distribution over the Internet. Graduates of the program have moved into business, college teaching in various content areas, distance education administration, doctorate programs, web development ventures, and K-12 teaching.
- Media Literacy: The media literacy concentration develops the technical and intellectual skills to successfully utilize and critique traditional and emerging mass media formats and information technologies. Particular emphasis will be placed upon the impact and influence of media content and format on school and society, students and citizens. Attention will also be given to the subject of media audiences and media ownership. Graduates of the program will be prepared to foster media literacy initiatives, projects and curriculum development in a variety of educational settings.
