Students completing the Advanced Master's degree in reading are regarded as well trained and are readily hired to teach in public schools across the country.
Master of Arts Degree Application Essentials
Concentrations: Adult Literacy; Classroom / Clinical
Location of instruction: On and off campus. Specific locations of off-campus cohorts can be obtained from the Office of Extension and Distance Education
Required Entrance Exam: GRE or MAT (score must be no more than 5 years old)
Required Number of References to specify in the on-line form: 3
Supplemental Information: Resume (Required upload for application submission); proof of teacher licensure for classroom/clinical concentration; letter of intent sent (upload under supplemental information)
Deadlines for Application. A program not open for a particular term will be marked with an "x." If the program has early screening dates, those dates are listed in parentheses. Applications that are not complete by the early screening date risk denial of admission due to no seats available. Increased enrollment may lead to a term being closed for new applications. (Summer and Fall applicants planning to enroll full time on campus should apply by February 1 to be eligible for scholarships.)

Basic Criteria for Consideration: UGPA = 3.0 in last 60 hours and official GRE or MAT scores; OR UGPA > 2.69 in last 60 hours and official MAT score of 390 or at least two of the following:
- GREV = 400
- GREQ = 400
- GREW = 3.5

- To complete the certificate, you must fulfill 18 credit hours
- Courses are offered one per semester, with a maximum of three per year
- Most are offered off-campus
