The Master of Arts Program in Romance Languages offers in-depth study of the culture, arts, and literature of the Hispanic world, development of critical and analytical skills, and continuing and advanced language development in Spanish.
Program Highlights (M.A. Spanish)
- This program requires 30 credit hours for completion.
- A thesis and formal thesis defense is required.
Program Highlights (Spanish, Teaching: K-12 or Community College)
- This program requires 36 credit hours for completion; a thesis is required.
- K-12 Teaching candidates complete a Product of Learning culminating in a one-hour formal presentation of this at the completion of the degee.
- Community College Teaching candidates maintain a portfolio of representative work generated in the course of the program, which will serve as the basis for a one-hour oral comprehensive examination.

Location of instruction: On campus, with some online/hybrid offerins.
Required Entrance Exam: GRE (score must be no more than 5 years old)
Required Number of References to specify in the on-line form: 3
Supplemental Information: Resume (Required upload for application submission); writing sample (upload on the Additional Information page in the on-line application), and audiotaped interview in Spanish (to mail to the Graduate School). International students must submit a writing sample in English (upload on the Additional Information page in the on-line application) and must pass an oral interview in English. Also needed for k12 teaching concentration: proof of teacher licensure.

Applications that are not complete by the early screening date risk denial of admission due to no seats available. Increased enrollment may lead to a term being closed for new applications.
