Research, Professional Development, and Travel Funding

Research and professional development are essential components of the graduate experience, and several funding opportunities are available to graduate students who are engaged in research and professional development activities.

The Office of Student Research coordinates the application process for all university-wide research and travel grants funded by a variety of campus programs, including the Graduate School Research Grants and the Graduate Student Association Senate's research and travel grants. Grants: Graduate Student Research Grants; GSAS Research and Travel Grants

Graduate Student Research Grants: Funding is available for graduate students engaged in thesis and dissertation research as well as research required as part of a product of learning or other capstone research requirement. Grants are in the $200 - $400 range. The deadlines each year are October 31 and March 1. See the OSR Website for the online application process.

GSAS Research and Travel Grants: Funding is available for graduate students who need funding for either research supplies or travel to a conference to present their results. Grants are in the $100 to $300 range. Deadlines are set each Fall and Spring by GSAS. See the GSAS Website for further information. See the OSR Website for the online application process.

OSR Grants: Funding is available for any student in need of funds to perform or dissemination research or other creative endeavors. See the OSR Website for the online application process.

Awards: Domer Research Award; Zigli Research Award; JVL Professional Development Award

These Awards provide $500 in support for graduate students each year. Nominations are accepted in October of each year with awards made in early November for use by the student between November and May. See the Awards Webpage for more information, including how to apply.
